Moves improves quality, productivity and sustainability
DuPont has announced the installation of two new platemaking units, a Cyrel® Digital Imager (CDI) and a Cyrel® FAST 1000TD thermal processing system, at Euroflex, Voronezh. The new equipment will allow the company to convert to a fully digital plate making process. The Cyrel® Digital Imager, an EskoArtwork CDI Spark 2530, allows the manufacture of flexographic photopolymer plates up to 762 mm lengths x 635 mm widths. Features include reliable high speed fibre laser with multi-beam optics and integrated plate loading table.
“Switching to the new digital process with new CDI has already helped us to reach a higher quality level in comparison with the analog method. Now we have more accurate color reproduction, low dot gain and exact form repeatability,” said Michail Sinegubov, Euroflex prepress department leader. “Thanks to the absence of films the possibility of dust appearing on a plate surface is reduced to a minimum. Quality control and design file handling has become much easier.”
Cyrel® FAST 1000TD uses revolutionary thermal technology that eliminates the chemical solvent or aqueous plate washout steps, reducing total plate production time by 75 percent compared to solvent processing. In addition, Cyrel® FAST is more compact, uses less energy and eliminates the costs and environmental issues of solvent processing.
“We already appreciate some of the advantages of FAST. We can respond to urgent customer demands, such as when a customer requires a design change at the last minute, we can do it very quickly. That ability increases our production stability,” Michail Sinegubov continued. “Also it’s very important for us that the FAST technology doesn’t use any solvent. That makes the production process safer and more pleasant for our employees and improves our environmental sustainability.”
