Drawn from more than 750 submissions from the flexographic printed packaging industry, DuPont Packaging Graphics announced the selection of winning candidates for the 8th Grand Prix Awards for packaging printed with DuPont™ Cyrel® products received from the countries: Africa, France, Greece, Italy, Middle East, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom. The 8th Grand Prix Cyrel® Awards ceremony will be held on June 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2010, in Barcelona, Spain.
On March 23rd and 24th, an independent expert jury panel, led by Ramon Xifra Pagés CEO, Comexi Group, S.L. assembled at the Escola Arts Grafiques Antoni Alguero in Sant Just Desvern, Spain and selected the winners of the Mediterranean contest. The large number of flexo printed package submissions demonstrated the overall growing utilization of the flexo technology, as well as the high-quality improvements that have been made over the past years.
The flexo printing packages submitted to the jury were evaluated on criteria such as package design, substrate selection, quality and difficulty of reproduction and printing, and final printed package appearance and functionality. Submissions were placed in the following categories: Carrier Bags, Bags on Paper, Sacks, Tag & Label, Flexible Packaging, Corrugated Post-Print B flute and Coarser, Corrugated Post-Print E flute and Finer as well as Best Conversion and special mention to Tissue.
The prestigious jury panel includes:
- Ramon Xifra Pagés CEO, Comexi Group, S.L.
- Amandine Galopin-Renard, graphic chain manager - Direction Achats Groupe LACTALIS
- Mirko Salzani, Packaging Area Responsible Graphic School,
- Martin Dennis White former chief editor, FlexoTech magazine
- Yilmaz Attila, executive board member Tesco Kipa
“All printed packaging designs submitted were much more sophisticated and complex than in the past events,” said Ramon Xifra Pagés, jury president. “Outstanding register accuracy, highlights holding and excellent smoothness on vignettes have greatly contributed to the exceptional quality of the submissions. However, the best steps in improvements were achieved in the following categories: Tag and Labels with UV inks, Flexible Packaging Narrow Web and Corrugated Board due to the expansion of the usage of finer screen rulings that can be achieved with the latest technologies.”
