DuPont™ Cyrel® DigiCorr Recognized For Innovation By FPPA
New Digital Plate Processing System Named 2010 Technological Innovator of the Year
The DuPont™ Cyrel® DigiCorr System for printing on corrugated packaging has received the 2010 Technological Innovator of the Year award from the Flexographic Pre-Press Platemakers Association (FPPA).

The award, presented Feb. 22 at the FPPA’s annual meeting in Ft. Myers, Fla., recognizes technological achievement in the administration or production of the flexo pre-press process. The association noted the unique technical attributes of the Cyrel® DigiCorr System as well as its contribution to advancing flexography in the corrugated printing industry. The system faced formidable competition from numerous entries by many leading companies serving the profession.
“As a science company, we are extremely proud to be chosen as this year’s Technological Innovator,” said Bob Hannum, corrugated segment manager – DuPont Packaging Graphics. “Considerable work has gone into the Cyrel® DigiCorr System, and we see it as an important contribution to both corrugated and flexo printing, in the spirit of other advances such as Cyrel® FAST thermal platemaking, Cyrel® Digital plates and Cyrel® round sleeves.”
Cyrel® DigiCorr plates produce uniquely shaped hybrid digital dots that print with minimal “fluting” or “washboarding,” the condition that results when the printing process reveals the corrugated flutes that provide the structural strength specific to corrugated shipping containers and store displays. Cyrel® DigiCorr plates minimize fluting and produce smoother vignettes and finer highlights result. In addition, the increased dot support with optimal shoulder angle results in increased plate run length.
