Unique, Easy-Open Package Spurs Sales for Sorrento Cheese

Surlyn® is used as a sealant layer in the top, non-forming film and the bottom forming film of the EZ Peel® package for the popular one-pound size of Sorrento mozzarella cheese.

Materials Selected and Why
Because Surlyn® provides superior hot-tack strength and excellent sealability, it allowed Curwood to "bury" the polyethylene layer that does the actual peeling in this application. Called a controlled delamination, the patented process provides greater peel reliability and permits use of a wider range of machine heat seal temperatures.
