Coldpack’s “Airliner” Pouch Keeps Sensitive Contents Cool

Package Description

Responding to demand for an alternative to commonly used polystyrene insulation material, Coldpack now offers a lighter weight, less bulky thermal packaging solution that can protect against temperature fluctuations and maintain the “cold chain” for shipped perishables, such as fresh produce, frozen foods and pharmaceuticals.

Stored flat (uninflated), the space-saving Coldpack “Airliner” pouch is inflated just prior to use. Inflation, enabled by a built-in valve, uses air or gas. The Airliner is then placed inside a cardboard shipping box, plastic crate or envelope.


The insulated pack is ready in a few seconds and, depending on the application, can be re-used several times. The pillow-like pouch structure, when inflated, adds product cushioning as well as effective insulation for cold contents.

DuPont packaging technical specialists helped Coldpack perfect a unique, compartmentalized metallized pouch structure, taking advantage of several specialized packaging resins, including DuPont™ Surlyn® sealants, Nucrel® foil adhesion resins and Bynel® tie layers for the multilayered structure.
