Stretch Pak with Film made of DuPont™ Surlyn®

Application Description

Stretch packaging for toolsStretch Pak with Film made of DuPont™ Surlyn® Gives Better Tools a Better Package

Stretch Pak using either 5-mil film of Surlyn® (for a retractable-blade knife or fixed-blade knife) or 3-mil film of Surlyn® (for replacement knife blades) applied to a card made of SBS board.  The back of the card is printed with product information.

  • Increased merchandising appeal because packaging is stronger and more attractive –- even after rough handling.

  • Improved tamper resistance which prevents in-store damage or theft.

  • Enhanced consumer appeal due to ability to see the product more easily and to feel the ergonomically designed knife handle before purchase.
Materials Selected and Why
Alternative packaging methods were investigated and Stretch Pak with film of Surlyn® was determined to be the best choice for this retail application.  In addition to providing a more secure, attractive package, Stretch Pak with film of Surlyn® met Better Tools objectives of cost-effectiveness, increased efficiency and enhanced merchandising appeal.
