DuPont Parlin Wins Energy Conservation Award
The Parlin site has been honored by the American Chemistry Council (ACC) with its Responsible Care® Energy Efficiency Award in the category of “Plant Site Energy Efficiency Program” for its utilities management
The award is given annually to recognize member companies that demonstrate outstanding results in saving energy and reducing related greenhouse gas emissions.
The award recognizes the site’s programs to reduce steam, electricity and water consumption. These efforts helped the site make up for the closure of their co-generation facility.
“Many of our employees were involved in the project activities associated with constructing a new boiler house and a power substation to give us a reliable supply of steam and electricity,” said Dave Steward, Parlin plant manager. “Everyone has contributed in some way to the conservation efforts.”
The Parlin site produces electronic and communication technologies. Of the many DuPont research and manufacturing facilities around the world, Parlin is the company’s oldest continuously operating site. The site has been operating for 105 years and today employs about 300 people.
In addition to the company’s efforts to improve energy efficiency in its operations, DuPont also offers solutions to improve energy efficiency in the construction, transportation and agriculture industries with products like DuPont™ Tyvek®, DuPont™ Kevlar® and productivity enhancing seeds. The company also is working to develop solutions in the alternative energy markets of solar, wind, fuel cells and biofuels.
