In additional several nations with advanced chemical warfare testing facilities have satisfactorily subjected Tychem® F fabric to their own national test standards.

Are Tychem® F garments the only DuPont garments available for domestic preparedness and protection against chemical and biological warfare agents?
No, DuPont offers a wide range of garments for protection against chemical and biological agents. No one garment is appropriate for all activities. DuPont offers garments ranging from Responder® CSM Level A suits to coveralls made of Tyvek®, all of which have utility in domestic preparedness.
Tychem® F garments are only available with respiratory fit hood, storm flap and taped seams. Similar style garments are also available in CPF® 3, CPF® 4, Tychem® BR and Tychem® LV fabrics, which offer broader ranges of chemical barrier against Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TIC). Analysis by the FBI deems TIC?s to be a higher threat than military chemicals. Go to top

In what applications is Tychem® F used?
Tychem® F provides a lightweight barrier to the six (6) most significant chemical warfare agents. A protective suit made from Tychem® F to keep out chemical warfare agents will also provide barrier protection against biological warfare agents, however it is important that the garment design excludes the possibility of agents being drawn in at the wrist or ankles by the "bellows" effect. How should Tychem® F be disposed of?
Tychem® F is made of polymers that do not contain halogens. Depending on the chemical contamination on the garment it can be either incinerated without any harm to the environment or buried in a responsible way. Discarded Tychem® F garments should be mutilated to prevent unauthorized reuse. Go to top

What is the shelf life of Tychem® F?
Ten years when adequately packed. Garments should be inspected prior to use. It is suggested that garments be labeled and retured to "Training Use Only" after five years. Garments may be used as long as they pass a full visual inspection. Uncontaminated garments that do not pass a visual inspection should be retired and labeled "For Training Use Only" or be discarded.
