Studied Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the University of Sheffield before, in 1991, joining ICI Engineering Teesside as a Control Electrical engineer. He moved to Dumfries, Scotland in 1994 and held several positions within ICI Films and then DuPont Teijin Films including managing the site power and utilities, an assignment as a Six Sigma black belt and as site Control Electrical Engineer.
In 2005 David took a position with DuPont (UK) Ltd as the UK Electrical Safety Professional with responsibility for electrical safety at ten sites. This included the 'hands on' introduction of DuPont arc flash risk assessments, calculations, labelling, PPE, training, and engineering methods to minimise exposure to the arc hazard.
David is a member of the DuPont European Electrical Safety and Technology Team who write the standards for DuPont sites throughout the EMEA region and has particular responsibility for auditing sites for electrical safety compliance. David is a member of the IET.
