John Maplesden BA (Hons), CEng, MIEE, is currently the Principal Consultant and Deputy Chairman of TAS Engineering Consultants.
Following a student apprenticeship with ICI Agricultural Division, John has pursued a career in Engineering and Management.
John led a management buyout of TAS in 1994 and since 2000 the company has steadily progressed and grown by building a diverse client base in the UK, Europe and beyond.
TAS was acquired by GSE systems in 2010 and John is now heavily involved in the development of TAS into a global engineering service provider.
TAS is proud to have supplied engineering support to DuPont since 1990 and completed its first Arc Flash Studies for DuPont in 1995.
Under John's leadership the company has progressed becoming one of the world's leading practitioners of Arc Flash Hazard studies and remediation programmes.
TAS have the capability to undertake arc flash studies in all sectors with a particularly strong capability in large and complex installations.
TAS works closely with organisations in sectors including process, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, power, healthcare, defence, mineral, chemical, manufacturing, utilities and food in more than 40 countries.
A Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, John has more than 40 years' experience in industry.
John also hosts the annual UK Electrical Engineers' Forum, which is facilitated by TAS, and is a key networking event for electrical specialists from across a range of industrial sectors.
