Mark Heller, Sr. Semiconductor Applications EngineerMark Heller, Sr. Semiconductor Applications Engineer, will present a technical paper on "Outgassing Characterization of Elastomeric Seals Used in Semiconductor Wafer Processing"

Abstract: High or ultra-high vacuum (UHV) processes for integrated circuit manufacturing require close control of vacuum levels and uniform gas composition in the chamber in order to insure optimum process efficiency, product uniformity and product consistency.  Outgassing from elastomeric seals can affect both vacuum level and consistency. A test methodology has been developed using a residual gas analyzer to measure the outgassing properties of elastomers. This paper compares the outgassing characteristics of three different types of elastomeric seals (perfluoroelastomers, fluoroelastomers and silicones) typically used in semiconductor wafer processing using this test method.  Data on outgassing rate as a function of time and temperature are presented.  While perfluoroelastomers as a material class exhibit the lowest outgassing rate at elevated temperatures, there are some performance variations depending on formulation and compounding.

Dr. Mark Doyle, Gloval Business Director, DuPont Photovoltaic SolutionsDr. Marc Doyle, Global Business Director, DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions, will be a guest speaker at the U.S. PV Fab Managers Forum. He will be presenting "Materials Demands to Enable Solar Industry Growth"

Abstract: The rapid growth of the photovoltaic industry has put tremendous pressure on materials suppliers to keep up with industry demand for critical materials. In this presentation, we discuss 10-year growth projections for the PV industry and how they relate to materials demands. We also show the critical importance that materials play within the PV industry, both in terms of driving necessary system cost reductions and ensuring reliability and long life from PV systems.

Rob Cockerill, PV Marketing ManagerRob Cockerill, PV Marketing Manager, will present "Future Directions for PV Metallizations"

Abstract: DuPont Microcircuit Materials has been a leader in the field of Photovoltaic Metallizations for close to two decades. In addition to continued research in advancing screen printable metallizations for the next 10 years, DuPont will present new directions in PV metallizations. These directions will include both standard and and advanced architectures as well as new approaches to metallization as an alternative to standard screen printing.

Dr. Joe Chen, PV Segment ManagerDr. Joe Chen, PV Segment Manager, will present "Improve Cell Manufacturing Uptime with High Performance Sealing Products"

Abstract: Seals used in PV cell manufacturing equipment are required to function in elevated temperatures and harsh chemicals, including reactive plasmas. The latest sealing products from DuPont provide exceptional long-term sealing for improved uptime and lower cost of ownership.  A relative comparison of various types of sealing materials in PV processes will also be compared.
