Protect sensitive components

Encapsulants are among the most important materials to module manufacturers for high volume module sealing and integration. Choosing the right material not only speed module production but can significantly prolong power generating efficiency and module durability. DuPont offers the solar industry’s most complete range of encapsulants for traditional and next-generation module design.

Traditional Rigid Solar Modules

Many crystalline silicon modules makers use clear, soft, encapsulating sheets made from ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resins. DuPont remains the PV industry’s leading supplier of EVA resins used as encapsulants. Sheets made from DuPont™ Elvax® PV Series resins help cushion individual cells from impact and enable the transmission of sunlight to the cells.

DuPont™ Elvax® PV resins offer:

  • Highest light transmission
  • Soft polymer – lower risk of cell breakage during lamination
  • Durable adhesion

Thin Film and Flexible Modules

Ranging from soft to structural, clear DuPont™ PV5200 Series encapsulant sheets, based on Butacite® PVB technology, and DuPont™ PV5300 Series encapsulant sheets, based on SentryGlas® ionomer, offer proven safety and laminating performance – delivering long term protection for the most sensitive portions of PV modules.

DuPont™ PV5200 Series encapsulant sheets provide durable adhesion to glass and metals in superstrate.

DuPont™ PV5300 Series encapsulant sheet features include:

  • Durable adhesion to glass
  • Superior wind load performance
  • Excellent moisture barrier and electrical properties
  • High strength
  • Fast laminating cycle
  • Potential for reducing or eliminating edge tape
