DuPont™ SentryGlas® PVB interlayers are used to encapsulate solar cells in front and back sheets of laminated safety glass. They provide both excellent glass adhesion and outstanding optics, while enabling the laminated glass to pass the required safety standards. Additional properties include high tear strength and rigidity, making SentryGlas® PVB interlayers best suited for PVB modules installed in extreme conditions requiring, among other properties, impact and structural performance.

DuPont™ SentryGlas® PVB interlayer sheeting is a pliable, tough thermoplastic used as an interlayer in laminated safety glass. It is formulated to absorb naturally occurring ultraviolet radiation from sunlight. Glass laminates containing DuPont™ SentryGlas® PVB sheeting give long-term stability in outdoor service, and provide protection from the sun’s rays.

Safety

The principal feature of laminated safety glass is its performance under impact. The DuPont™ SentryGlas® PVB interlayer absorbs the energy of the impact, resisting penetration, and although the glass may break, the glass fragments remain firmly bonded to the interlayer, minimizing the risk of injuries. (Little wonder that laminated glass is mandatory for automotive windshields in almost every industrialized country in the world.)

Security

Laminated glass can be designed to withstand bullets and bomb blasts by using multiple or thick layers of glass and PVB.

Durability

Laminated glass is durable, maintaining its color and strength for the life of the building, and is as easily cleaned as ordinary glass.
