DuPont creates a Center of Excellence for its Engineering Polymers business in India to support customers for adoption of latest technologies
DuPont Engineering Polymers, a business unit of DuPont, announced the creation of a Center of Excellence to accelerate growth in the region, which is among the fastest growth markets for the business and for the company. The new Engineering Polymers center of excellence will support development and extension of the latest engineering polymer technologies and share acquired knowledge among regional application and industry teams for business growth. It will enable the use of the latest technology and advanced engineering software to support the design and application development needs of customers in India.
DuPont Engineering Polymers is a global leader and materials supplier to diversified industries such as transportation, appliance, electrical, electronic industries, offering a broad and growing portfolio of high-performance polymers, technologies and innovative solutions that improve the uniqueness and functionality of their products. A large number of growth opportunities include developing automotive systems, enhancing high-performance parts and reducing cost for various applications, with particular emphasis to growth in emerging geographies such as India.
Announcing the setting up of the DuPont Engineering Polymers “Center of Excellence”, Philippe Hanck, Regional Director, Engineering Polymers, Asia Pacific said: “Technical services are fundamental to the delivery of innovation and value to our customers and we will continue to create new solutions that meet the needs of the markets we serve in our pursuit of rapid growth. We are confident of the growth of the engineering polymers market in India, especially in the area of specialty materials and this new center is a testimony to our commitment to strengthen our resources in growth markets, in line with our global strategy of ‘go where the growth is’”.
V Venkatesan, India business leader of DuPont Engineering Polymers, said: “India is one of the important growth markets for DuPont EP, it is important that DuPont continue to play the leading role in the market and invest to support customers for further growth. This will improve the speed-to-market of many of our applications and help us serve our customers better in India. When our customers win, we win.”
With the setting up of this Center of Excellence, DuPont is the first resin supplier to provide the full spectrum of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) capabilities in India. The CAE staff also has strong networks with DuPont design teams around the world, who is equipped with state-of-art software and facilities to provide 3D surface CAD, mold-flow, warpage, structural, impact and NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) analysis.
The use of specialty engineering polymers such as DuPont™ Zytel® HTN, DuPont™ Hytrel® TPE, DuPont™ Zenite® LCP by manufacturers in India have grown significantly in the last few years. This reflects a gradual shift of manufacturers and specifiers to adopt high performance materials preferentially over conventional and commodity plastics to drive improvement in application performance.
DuPont Engineering Polymers continues to be leader in materials innovation and deliver solutions through one of the broadest portfolios of products in the engineering polymers industry today. Recently launched products include DuPont Delrin® 300CP high impact-modified and high viscosity polyacetal resin that optimises impact performance, flow and cost efficiency. This will allow greater design flexibility and freedom. Potential applications include automotive components and mass-produced articles such as fasteners, clips or spring elements. With the new super-fast grades of DuPont™ Crastin® PBT thermoplastic polyester, molders can cut cycle time for PBT parts up to 30 percent and deliver cost savings up to 20 percent. The super-fast molding resins are particularly advantageous in molding thin-wall parts such as connectors and large parts such as structural housings.
DuPont Engineering Polymers specializes in application development, operating in more than 40 centers globally and using a broad range of high-performance materials and technology to help customers in the global aerospace, appliance, automotive, consumer, electrical, electronic, industrial, sporting goods and other diversified industries deliver high-quality, cost-effective systems and components.
