Benefits Gained
The high elongation property of DuPont polyester permits the use of a snap-fit assembly for the ball insertion needed in the pneumatic system, thus increasing productivity. Good overmoulding performance and weld line reduced part reject level. Dimensional stability was also a guarantee of quality consistency undervarious external conditions.
Materials Selected and Why
Crastin® PBT was chosen for the structural part because of its right balance of toughness, stiffness and dimensional stability. The good retention properties at the weld line are also an advantage in this application which has many holes and snap fits.
Delrin® acetal resin is also used in this application.
