What is a DuPont™ Zytel® HTN PPA?
Zytel® HTN PPA grades are engineered for extremes and retain stiffness, strength and mechanical properties despite exposure to high temperatures, long-life coolant, chemicals and moisture due to the addition of an aromatic ring structure from fully aromatic polyamides such as DuPont™ Kevlar®.

How do I know I need it?
Zytel® HTN PPA grades bridge the gap between often costly high-performance specialty polymers and metals. Zytel® HTN PPA can help reduce weight and cost, provide integration opportunities and enhance performance of components typically exposed to hot, humid and chemically aggressive environments - like those in automotive powertrains, engine cooling or transmissions, electrical and electronic or in industrial machinery applications.

What are some proven applications?
- Engine cooling components, such as thermostat housings, water pumps.
- In powertrains: charge air coolers, transmission housings and components, engine oil systems, brake systems, ignition systems, motors.
- In electrical and electronics: lead-free SMT connectors, high-voltage insulators and connectors using a new non-halogenated grade of Zytel® HTN PPA for better environmental impact.

|
What are the savings?
- Compared with metal, Zytel® HTN PPA enables functional integration to either eliminate manufacturing additional parts or secondary steps required to assemble parts.
- Compared with PPS, Zytel® HTN PPA offers lower specific gravity for reduced weight and more material/pound to yield more components/pound.
- Zytel® HTN PPA is tougher than PPS to protect against break for better handling, improved yield.
- Zytel® HTN PPA offers better melt stability at standard operating procedures; improve yield.
- Finally, Zytel® HTN PPA is non-corrosive to tooling to ward off mold deposit for reduced downtime; lower maintenance.

Changing material means risk – How can DuPont Engineering Polymers help manage risk?
- More than 20 applications exposed to harsh underhood chemicals, heat and humidity since 1998… and still on the road today.
- Broad materials portfolio helps meet cost objectives without compromising performance.
- Access to hundreds of specialty polymers (Teflon®, Kevlar®, Nomex®) to protect components in the most aggressive operating conditions.
- Global supply: Local support.
- Access to more than 40 application development centers around the world.

|
What are the performance characteristics?
- Zytel® HTN PPA meets most OEM specified mechanical performance criteria for critical underhood components facing exposure to aggressive coolants, extreme thermal cycling and humid environments and demonstrates long-term component life with more than 20 applications, many of which are still the road around the world after more than 10 years.
- Zytel® HTN PPA Better resistance to chemicals and temperature than competitive PPAs.
- Zytel® HTN PPA Retains mechanicals when exposed to extreme 5,000 hour aggressive coolant tests.
