DuPont™ Zytel® HTN92 Series PPA resins

Two Zytel® HTN PPA resins have been enhanced with DuPont™ SHIELD Technology, credited with significantly extending performance characteristics of Zytel® PLUS nylon.

The new polymers continue to deliver performance a step above non-aromatic polyamides — AND after 1,000 hours at 230 °C air oven aging, the strength of HTN92 series is twice that of standard PPA resin, and 20–25% higher than PPS resins.

Already well known for their ability to resist heat, chemicals and moisture, the use of SHIELD Technology helps ensure performance at 230 °C and that components exposed to 210 °C for long periods are protected, making them ideal to replace metal or high-end specialty polymers in today’s extremely hot, chemically aggressive underhood environments.

SHIELD Technology   DuPont™ SHIELD Technology combines several innovations, including a new polymer backbone, polymer modifications and a special set of additives, to enhance many performance characteristics. The exact combination and composition of chemistries are tailored for each product based on the targeted application.

Of the resins enhanced with SHIELD Technology, DuPont™ Zytel® HTN92 Series PPA resins:

  • Deliver the highest resistance to calcium chloride.
  • Offer stiffness and resistance to creep at elevated temperatures that are in a class above non-aromatic polyamides and PPS.
  • Resist higher peak temperatures than PPS resins, for added protection in hot, underhood environments and,
  • Maintain higher levels of ductility than PPS to help ensure components are not brittle.
