Polymer Modifiers

Compounded Systems

Reactive ethylene copolymers from DuPont for polyester toughening. Nonreactive ethylene copolymers from DuPont™ are often selected to impart softness, flexibility, toughness or other desired properties to compounded plastics, without reacting with the base resins.

ABS

While producing ABS compoounds, whether standard, recycled or filled, poor toughness can be encountered. Impact modification is a highly complex challenge for which one specific solution exists depending on the temperature required for general purpose strength performance. When added in ABS resins, Elvaloy® delivers higher impact resistance with lower loadings than conventional modifiers.

Nylon (PA)

Depending on the final polyamide application, customized impact strength is required to meet specific needs: from general purpose to super toughening.  A broad range of impact modifiers, based on functionalized or nonfunctionalized ethylene copolymers or ionomers, are available to meet unique needs for your PA 6, PA 6,6 or glass-reinforced PA compounds.

Polycarbonate

Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene is a semicrystalline polymer exhibiting very attractive cost-performance balance and easy processability.  However, to fulfill some industry needs, PP requires improved impact resistance at ambient or low temperatures. Toughness improvement can be obtained with an impact modifier, Elvaloy®, at room or low temperatures.
