Uses for HFA Derivatives

Product   Uses
Hexafluoroisobutylene
(HFIB)
Hexafluroisobutylene is a specialty monomer used in coatings and fluoropolymers, to produce materials with high temperature and chemical stability and good optical properties. In addition, HFIB can be used for blowing agents and refrigerants, and for specialty chemical applications.
Hexafluoroisopropanol
(HFIP)

HFIP is a used as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, and as a solvent or cleaner in electronics. In addition, HFIP finds use in analytical applications due to its ability to dissolve a variety of polymers including polyesters, polyamides, polyacrylonitriles, polyacetals, and hydrolyzed polyvinyl esters.

HFIP is a volatile and polar material, with high density, low viscosity and low surface tension. It is transparent to UV light (<2000 A), and has a low refractive index.

6-FTA  6-FTA is useful as a chemical intermediate or monomer in fluorinated resins in markets including electronics and aerospace.
Custom Manufactured
Products
These fluorinated specialty products are valued for their high temperature stability, low refractive index, strong solvency and chemical resistance. They are used as monomers for polyimides and fluoroelastomers, as curing agents in performance polymers and as specialty solvents. Markets include electronics, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and other uses demanding high temperature stability, chemical resistance, and excellent UV stability.

Uses for Isocyanates Products

Product   Uses
DuPont™ PPDI  PPDI is used in seals and gaskets, pump diaphragms and oilfield service materials, as well as power couplings, belts, jounce bumpers, shock absorbers, rollers and load-bearing wheels. PPDI-based elastomers serve markets in power tools, mining, automotive, sporting goods and office equipment.
DuPont™ CHDI

DuPont™ CHDI is especially suitable for applications in these demanding environments:

• Hot, moist environments
• Oily environments
• Tear- and abrasion-prone applications

CHDI is a specialty material, used primarily in demanding applications including medical elastomers, where dynamic performance and biological stability are required. Other uses may include seals, belts, flexible tubing, coatings and films, serving markets in automotive, mining, industrial and medical devices.
