DuPont Crop Protection Announces 2(ee) Recommendation for Control of Asian Citrus Psyllid in Florida

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 7, 2006 – DuPont Crop Protection recently issued a DuPont™ Vydate® L insecticide/nematicide 2(ee)* recommendation for control of Asian citrus psyllid in Florida.

Vydate® L is already well-known by Florida growers for strong and reliable performance against certain mites, foliar insects and soil nematodes to keep citrus trees healthy from roots to foliage. Now, with this new recommendation, growers may add Vydate® L to their tool box as another option to manage citrus psyllids, the vector of citrus greening, a devastating and profit-destroying disease.

This 2(ee) recommendation for Vydate® L not only gives FL growers another tool to manage both their young and mature groves profitably, it also affords the grower flexibility in application, which offers more options to fit with the growers preferred method of application.”

When Vydate® L is applied through microsprinklers, applications should begin at bud swell. Apply Vydate® L at rates of ½ to 1 gallon per acre when using microsprinklers. Applications can be made every 15 days when the ½ gallon rate is used. As a foliar application, Vydate® L should be applied as psyllid populations begin to build. Apply Vydate® L by air or ground sprayer at rates of ½ gallon per acre. For aerial applications, use a minimum of 10 gallons of water per acre. For ground applications, use a minimum of 100 gallons of water per acre and a maximum of 400 gallons of water per acre. Applications can be made every 15 days.

* This Vydate® L recommendation is permitted under under FIFRA Section 2(ee) for use on citrus to control Asian citrus psyllid in the state of Florida and has not been submitted to or approved by the EPA. The 2(ee) expiration date is 12/31/06.
