New DuPont™ Kocide® 3000 Fungicide/Bactericide Helps Vegetable and Citrus Growers Do More With Less

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 21, 2006 – The Environmental Protection Agency has approved the registration of DuPont™ Kocide® 3000 fungicide/bactericide, giving vegetable and citrus growers even more disease control with less metallic copper per acre.
The introduction of Kocide® 3000 continues to build on the success of the Kocide® family of products, which has long been the industry standard for effective copper treatments.

“Kocide® 3000 helps growers produce more marketable fruit and vegetables, but with less metallic copper per acre than with earlier formulations,” said DuPont product manager Andy Selley. “At a time when Florida growers are battling citrus canker, and vegetable growers everywhere face tight margins, they can do more with less.”

Kocide® 3000, with an active ingredient of copper hydroxide, has a metallic copper equivalent of 30 percent per pound. Although it provides the same excellent disease control as the popular DuPont™ Kocide® 2000 formulation, it does so with 42 percent less metallic copper. For example, one pound of Kocide® 3000 delivers the same performance as 1.5 pounds of Kocide® 2000. Less copper per acre also reduces the impact on the environment.

Kocide® 3000 can be applied on nearly 30 vegetable crops to control diseases such as Alternaria, anthracnose, powdery mildew and a number of rusts and molds. It also can be used on most types of citrus to suppress citrus canker and control other tough diseases, such as melanose and greasy spot. In addition to vegetables and citrus, Kocide® 3000 also is registered for use on alfalfa, wheat and other field crops; a number of fruit and tree crops; and conifer trees.
