DuPont Announces Submission of Registration Applications for Products Containing the Technical Active Ingredient DuPont™ Rynaxypyr™ Insecticide

WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 31, 2007 – DuPont today announced submission of registration applications for products containing the technical active ingredient DuPont™ Rynaxypyr™ insecticide to regulatory authorities in the EU (represented by Ireland and the UK), Australia, Canada, and the United States. These authorities are piloting a Work Share project under the auspices of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) aimed at an accelerated review and approval timeline and regulatory harmonization.

Rynaxypyr™ is the first active ingredient from the anthranilic diamide class of insecticides and offers a novel mode of action. Rynaxypyr™ will provide long-lasting, broad spectrum chewing insect control for fruits, vegetables, other specialty crops, field crops, and turf.

"This is a significant step for DuPont because the regulatory submission keeps us on track for commercialization beginning next year," said James C. Collins, Jr. , vice president and general manager – DuPont Crop Protection. "We look forward to bringing another product to market that offers a world-class environmental, efficacy and toxicity profile, consistent with our longstanding objective of delivering safer and environmentally sustainable solutions to customers."

Over 3,500 successful field trials have been completed and almost 400 regulatory studies conducted over five years. These studies demonstrate the effectiveness and extraordinarily low toxicity of Rynaxypyr™ to mammals, birds and fish. Experimental use permits in the United States and Canada are planned in 2007, pending regulatory approval, and market launch for this newest innovation in insecticides is anticipated to begin in 2008. Rynaxypyr™ will be sold worldwide under the brand names DuPont™ Altacor™ and Coragen™ for agricultural uses.
