New DuPont™ Altacor® and Coragen®, Powered by Rynaxypyr®, Receive California State Registration

Registration Approval for Breakthrough Fruit and Vegetable Insecticides Will Help State’s Producers Manage Costly Pests

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 9, 2008 – DuPont has received registration approvals from the state of California for DuPont™ Altacor® and DuPont™ Coragen® insect control.  These two new insecticides, powered by DuPont™ Rynaxypyr®, offer growers fast-acting and long-lasting control of a wide range of pests who can do costly damage to crops.  This new breakthrough mode of action insecticide delivers the protection necessary to help growers achieve high-quality, high-yielding fruit and vegetable crops.

DuPont received registration approval for Altacor® and Coragen® from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in early May.  To date, DuPont has received registration approvals in more than 30 states for Altacor® and Coragen® including: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Utah.

“We are excited to be able to offer new insect control solutions to our retailers and growers,” said Lars Swanson, Rynaxypyr® portfolio manager – DuPont Crop Protection.  With its new mode of action, Altacor® and Coragen® will provide a significant change in insect control strategies, offering more solutions for resistance management.

Rynaxypyr® has an outstanding environmental profile, making both Altacor® and Coragen® an excellent fit in integrated pest management programs.  The new technology provides highly effective control of target pest species at low use rates, but with minimal impact on beneficial species.

“Both products offer a high level of efficacy and long-lasting activity on a wide spectrum of target pests,” said Wayne Steele, regional development manager – DuPont Crop Protection.

“Additionally, their environmental profiles provide the shortest re-entry interval, which will be a tremendous benefit to growers.  In field trials conducted in California last year, we observed excellent insect control across different growing conditions.  Altacor® and Coragen® are going to have a great fit with the insecticides we can offer growers in our portfolio.”

Altacor® is registered for use in grapes and pome fruit crops such as apples and stone fruit crops such as peaches and cherries.  Coragen® is registered for use on a wide range of vegetable crops, including lettuce, peppers and tomatoes.
