Presently it is not common practice to flash windows routinely in Australia as it is in other countries, however, every year there are many disputes involving builders, window manufacturers and insurance companies around this issue of leaking windows. Many quality builders are becoming more aware of the need to follow this practice. Some window manufacturers recommend flashing around their windows.
What is DuPont™ FlexWrap™?
DuPont™ FlexWrap™ is a flexible internal flashing tape used to improve the water tightness around windows, doors and complex architectural shapes. Can be used as a straight flashing for headers, joints and sills or around complex, difficult to seal shapes that require the flashing to be bent and shaped around difficult corners. DuPont™ FlexWrap™ is constructed from a layer of tough strong Tyvek® laminated on a layer of high adhesive butyl. DuPont™ FlexWrap™ is an internal flashing product that can be exposed for up to 120 days.

This material offers a strong, durable flexible flashing tape that can be used in a variety of applications for improved water tightness around windows, doors and difficult architectural shapes. The ability of the material to be flexed around corners saves having to cut the material making for better water sealing in critical areas.
