USDA FSIS Issues Letter of No Objection for BAX® System STEC Suite
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a letter of no objection to DuPont’s claim that the BAX® System STEC suite is comparable to the FSIS reference method MLG 5B.01 for detecting top Shiga toxin-producing strains of E. coli (STEC).

USDA ARS and DuPont Qualicon Collaborate on New Test for STEC
DuPont and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have agreed to collaborate on the development of a new test for detecting hard-to-identify strains of toxin-producing E. coli that are not currently regulated and have been causing increased instances of food contamination and illness.

DuPont Qualicon Releases New BAX® System Assay for Rapid Vibrio Detection
A new BAX® system assay from DuPont Qualicon can be used by seafood processors and government laboratories to detect Vibrio in less than 24 hours. The BAX® system Real-Time PCR Assay for Vibrio detects even low levels of three distinct species — V. cholerae, V. parahaemolyticus, and V. vulnificus — from the same sample.

BAX® System 24E Assays Certified by AFNOR
Two new PCR assays from DuPont Qualicon have received AFNOR certification as alternative methods for detecting Listeria and Listeria monocytogenes. These BAX® system 24E assays, developed in collaboration with Oxoid, Ltd., use optimized enrichment media to provide next-day test results from food and environmental samples.

DuPont Qualicon has released a new genetic-based test that allows food companies to detect Listeria on environmental surfaces in just eight hours. This new assay is the first commercial application of Reverse-Transcriptase PCR for bacterial testing in food and the latest addition to the award-winning suite of BAX® system products.

Health Canada validates new protocols for BAX® system detection of E. coli O157:H7
Health Canada, the federal agency that oversees food safety in Canada, has validated protocols for using the BAX® system from DuPont Qualicon to detect E. coli O157:H7 in fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, animal feed, environmental samples and dry products. This recent approval supplements prior validation of the BAX® system for detecting the pathogen in ground beef and beef trim.
