BAX® System Real-Time PCR STEC Suite
     
  Aligned with the USDA FSIS approach, the STEC screening assay detects virulence genes stx and eae to clear negative samples quickly and cost-effectively. Using the same lysate, panel assays determine if positive screening samples contain one of the top six serogroups of non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli.

  This multiplex (MP) assay includes several targets on the E. coli O157:H7 genome for greater assurance that new, unusual or modified varieties of this complex organism are detected.

Health Canada Supplement 2 to MFLP#30 applies to dairy, meat, fruit and vegetables (after 18-24 hours in modified tryptic soy broth with novobiocin, mTSB-n) and to dry foods, environmentals and animal feed (after 1 hour in BPW, then 18-24 hours in mTSB-n). Also applies to ground beef and beef trim after 8-24 hours in BAX® System MP media.
