Opteon™ YF (HFO-1234yf) has been chosen as the EU F-gas replacement for automotive refrigerant, offering the best balance of properties and performance including:
- Excellent environmental properties:
Global Warming Potential = 4
Zero Ozone Depletion Potential
- Comparable to HFC-134a for refrigeration properties
- Acceptable stability and compatibility properties
- Is mildly flammable (but significantly less flammable than HFC-152a and R-32)
- Preliminary assessment indicates that it may be possible to use Opteon™ YF (HFO-1234yf) in a direct expansion MAC system (i.e., no secondary loop)
