Each of the products in the DuPont™ Hytrel® RS product line will contain renewably sourced material derived from corn in an amount between 20% and 37% (by weight), with DuPont™ Cerenol™ polyol as a key intermediate. The specific amount of renewably sourced material contained in each Hytrel® RS product will be available when the products are launched.
The unique properties of Hytrel® RS will bridge the gap between rubber and rigid plastics and provide all the performance characteristics of traditional Hytrel® analogs. Hytrel® RS will be easily processed by conventional thermoplastic methods like injection molding, blow molding, calendaring, rotational molding, extrusion, and melt casting. Applications include hoses and tubing for automotive and industrial uses, boots for CV joints, air bag doors, and energy dampers. Hytrel® RS products will be commercially available in 2008.
