Pilkington and DuPont Announce Joint Pilkington Planar™/ SentryGlas® Program
World glass industry leaders Pilkington and DuPont have announced a collaborative development programme combining their leading structural glazing and interlayer technologies.
Pilkington engineers working with DuPont scientists have formed a partnership to expand the range of high performance Pilkington Planar™ structural glass systems utilizing DuPont™ SentryGlas® structural interlayer. Through a fully integrated engineering, manufacturing, and installation approach, Pilkington Planar™ structural glazing incorporating SentryGlas® will give architects greater freedom to express their designs while meeting today's growing demands for increased safety and security.
Pilkington’s International Sales Manager, Andrew B. Milne, said: “The addition of DuPont™ SentryGlas® structural interlayer to the Pilkington Planar™ portfolio provides architects, designers, glazing contractors and building owners with enhanced strength, safety, security and durability. This further expands the possibilities for structural glazing systems in the most demanding architectural glass applications while still maintaining the elegance of design and detailing which has become synonymous with the Pilkington Planar™ System.”Pilkington Planar™ systems are supplied globally in geographic regions that experience tropical heat, arctic cold, hurricane winds and major seismic challenges. Pilkington engineers check the design of every Pilkington Planar™ project and site installation is carried out through a network of trained and accredited glazing contractors. This crucial, end-to-end service ensures quality and reliability, from concept design right through to project completion. The first projects using the combined new technologies are under construction and a full product launch is expected in early 2005.
