Roger Moore, president - DuPont Safety Resources, Asia Pacific was recently featured as the keynote speaker at the CII Leadership and Excellence Award 2003 held in Chennai, India. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the award recognizes organizations for their innovative practices in safety, health and the environment.

In his speech, Roger highlighted one of the key factors of success -- visible commitment by senior managers or "felt leadership."

"When felt leadership is applied to an organization in the area of safety, a cultural transformation can occur. Most importantly, that transformation is sustainable because it becomes part of the fabric of the company and the environment your people operate within," he said. Organizers of the event noted they were privileged to have an insight into the DuPont experience of having safety as a strategic value.
