DuPont Sponsored Panel Discussion at SEMICON West Now Featured Online
New Materials on the Roadmap for Semiconductors
DuPont today announced it has made available on its web site video of presentations made at a technical seminar it sponsored during SEMICON West 2006 in San Francisco, Calif. New materials on the roadmap was the topic of the seminar, which attracted semiconductor industry associates interested in the implications of the latest version of the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) on material and chemical technologies, the major issues, challenges and opportunities in key areas of lithography, front end processing, interconnect, emerging devices and environmental safety and health. The presentations and transcriptions from the seminar are available online at semi-fabrication.dupont.com.
Material issues in the major ITRS initiatives brought together some of the top senior technologists in the industry to provide overviews and highlight specific areas of semiconductor material development, including:
- Lithography, led by Larry Thompson, president, IPSSLP, and former director of advanced lithography and chemical engineering, Bell Labs.
- Front end processing, presented by Raj Jammy, director for front end processes, SEMATECH (IBM assignee).
- Environmental safety and health, presented by Walter Worth, fellow and ESH program manager, SEMATECH.
- Interconnect, with Robert Havemann, vice president of process integration, Novellus Systems.
- Emerging devices, led by Dan Herr, director of nanomanufacturing sciences research, SRC.
Following the presentations, session moderator Ed Korczynski, senior technical editor from Solid State Technology, led an intriguing question and answer session exploring the impact of materials development on the future of electronics, which is also transcribed on the web site.
By connecting science and technology from across the company, DuPont has established a leading position in the semiconductor industry with highly engineered materials and advanced process expertise in both semiconductor fabrication and packaging.
