DuPont™ Sontara®

Electronics Industry

Europe, Middle East and Africa

Protecting sensitive environments from particulates during the manufacture of high-value electronics is no easy task. It is imperative to reduce the potential contaminants that can cause product defects and associated yield losses.

DuPont is the world’s largest manufacturer of fabrics for the cleanroom industry. DuPont™ Sontara® fabrics were designed to help meet the challenges of keeping cleanrooms free from particulates and contamination on working surfaces.

Sontara® fabrics for the electronics industry are equipped with outstanding strength, together with clean, low-linting properties and excellent absorbent qualities, even when wet.

Engineered for use in situations which require “clean absorbency,” Sontara® MicroPure wiping products are not woven or knitted into yarns, so they do not require binders, glues or other chemicals and adhesives to hold the fibers together or to make the fabric absorbent.

Uses for cleanroom wipes made with DuPont™ Sontara® include:

  • Cleanroom protection and maintenance
  • Polishing and cleaning relays, contacts and switches
  • Cleaning lab apparatus and sensitive equipment
  • Absorbing spills

DuPont™ Sontara® MicroPure products are available in a range of fabrics to meet cleanroom performance from Class 2—6:
