Common Myths About Surfaces

Myths and Misconceptions about Surfaces

Corian® Myths

Corian® stains easily
Corian® is actually very stain-resistant and even tough stains can be removed easily. Even if your Corian® surface does become stained or marked in some way, you can actually sand away the affected area, leaving your countertop as good as new. That's the advantage of a surface that is solid all the way through!

Corian® is expensive
Corian® comes in a wide range of price categories. And don't forget that Corian® was designed to last for years and years-saving you the expense and hassle of having to have your countertops frequently replaced. Because of these and other reasons, Corian® surfaces add measurable value to your home, which is why so many realtors feature Corian® when listing a home.

Corian® scratches easily
Corian® is scratch-resistant. If your surface does become scratched or marked, you can actually sand away the effected area, leaving your countertop as good as new. That's the advantage of a surface that is solid all the way through!

Designers Don't Use Corian®
You'll find Corian in Wolfgang Puck's Grand Café, the Haru Sushi Bar, the Glen Morgan Bar and Grill, too name a few. Corian® is even used by leading artists to create an amazing array of original work.

Zodiaq® Myths
Zodiaq® is not natural stone
Zodiaq® is 93% pure quartz crystal, one of nature's strongest and most beautiful stones. Because quartz crystals are not large enough to use for slab surfaces, Zodiaq® is combined with an advanced polymer that increases durability and produces a consistent color.

Granite Certified by DuPont Myths

Granite cannot be repaired
Granite can be re-finished and, in cases of chipping or breaking, can be repaired with colored epoxies that can take a polish.

Granite stains easily.
Granite is resistant to stains. Generally, any liquid spilled on a granite top, if wiped up within a few minutes, will not stain. However, water can soak into a granite countertop and leave a dark colored spot but this will evaporate in minutes. Liquids that do not evaporate, such as oils, will cause stains if left to soak into the stone. Even oil stains can usually be removed by using a poultice or paste that will draw out the oil from the stone.
