DuPont Corian® Unveils 2005 Color Introductions Featuring Concrete Aesthetic at K/BIS
New Corian® Colors Provide a Fresh and Subtle "Canvas for Living"
LAS VEGAS , NV , May 10 – 12, 2005 – Designers attending this year’s Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) will get a first-hand look at the latest trends in surfaces from DuPont Surfaces. New in 2005, DuPont introduces six new colors of Corian ® – Concrete, Fawn, Serene Sage, Suede, Tranquil and Whisper – that feature a fusion of the aesthetic appeal of concrete with the durability and performance of Corian ® . Featured at booth 2136, the new colors’ matereality, or emotional expression, evoke feelings of tranquility and calm, providing homeowners with a subtle, fresh and stylish backdrop for everyday living.
Concrete has enjoyed a long and illustrious history as a building material, from the ancient Egyptian Pyramids to the modern Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Due to its unpretentious and calming aesthetic, the use of concrete has evolved over time from being a structural material to decorative surfacing material that lends itself to the soft contemporary style of today.
“Because our lives are so saturated with color – from computer screens and colorful billboards to street signs and advertisements – we yearn for the ‘silence’ of soothing neutrals,” said Ginguei Ebnesajjad, DuPont Surfaces director of product styling and development. “This new collection of colors provides relief to our over-stimulated visual world and helps to ground us emotionally.”
The deep coppers, natural bronzes and pale aqua hues offer homeowners smooth, opaque surfaces with subtle, random particles incorporated throughout that give the colors an understated, elegant look. The newest introductions, which bring the offering to over 110 colors, were designed to blend seamlessly with the most prevalent materials used throughout today’s home.

Corian ® is non-porous and does not promote the growth of mold, mildew or bacteria. It is a seamless and renewable surface that can be used for numerous applications throughout the home, including countertops, backsplashes, vanity tops, wall cladding, tub and shower surrounds, desktops and windowsills. Stains and scratches can be sanded out to keep the surface looking beautiful for years to come. Corian ® ranges from $45 - $75 per square-foot installed, and carries a 10-year installed, transferable warranty from DuPont. Pricing may vary based upon complexity, color and project location.
