What: Walls and surface areas in the busy, high-traffic Bozeman hospital.
Issues: Walls were continuously being damaged by equipment in high traffic patient areas such as corridors, elevators and day surgery rooms, and kitchen and cafeteria walls needed constant repair and painting from cart damage and prolonged hot water exposure.
Challenges: Finding cost-effective surfacing materials durable enough to withstand the high traffic abuse; materials that are nonporous and easily cleaned in all hospital applications, especially where there is standing water that can breed bacteria or disintegrate the finish of a surface to the point where it cannot be properly disinfected.
Solutions: By using Corian®, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital projects $30,000 — $50,000 per year savings in wall repair and painting costs because DuPont™ Corian® solid surface is tough, long lasting and can be renewed if needed.
