Maria Galland Cosmetic Line Shifts to Semi-Transparent Plastic Packaging

Packaging producer Ileos GmbH earns award for cosmetics packaging in lightweight alternative to glass
Application Description
Wilmington, Delaware, August 2005 -- Winner of a 2005 Silver Award in the 18th annual DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation, Maria Galland cosmetics presents a 'high value' line in jars molded with DuPont™ Surlyn® resin. The jars are hot stamped and printed in different colors. The packaging was developed and produced by Ileos GmbH, an experienced molder of DuPont™ Surlyn® resins. Changing the material of the jar from glass to Surlyn® was accompanied by technically simplifying the cap in ABS/PP with glued seals.
The new material and technical concept lead to a remarkable cost and weight reduction, maintaining high quality optics and warm touch. Energy consumption and recyclability contribute as well to a sustainable package solution.
