French converter/processor Alanska is setting new culinary standards with its fresh-packed line of "Red Label" smoked salmon, thanks to a polyamide film structure from Ternois Plastiques that includes DuPont Surlyn® resin.

The fish, which is supplied by an ISO 9002-certified Norwegian breeder, is placed on wooden platters and vacuum-packed in bags of the composite film.

The exceptional seal strength and hot tack of Surlyn® ensure a leak-proof, wrinkle-free package - even if fat is present at the sealing edge when the product is pushed into the bag.

According to Alanska, the reliable sealing characteristics of Surlyn® help preserve the fresh taste of its sliced salmon. What's more, because Surlyn® can be sealed at low temperatures, it is ideally suited to secondary sealing, which provides additional product protection.

The market for smoked salmon has expanded significantly in recent years, which is why Alanska has concentrated its efforts on improving the quality and image of its products. To this end, Surlyn® has played a major role in upgrading the company's premium "Red Label" line, providing packaging with a high-gloss transparency and soft touch that enhance its consumer appeal.
