Application Description
When Crescent Moon wanted to make a difference in the fast-growing snowshoe market, they turned to materials innovation and found a clear new decking choice in Surlyn®. Used at the front of their high-performance shoes, decking made of Surlyn® is lighter in weight than materials used before, and…to differentiate their shoe from competition…the new decking material lets the user see through the front decking to feel closer to nature and enhance winter enjoyment.
Benefits Gained
Surlyn® is used for its combination of low-temperature toughness, abrasion resistance, retaining original shape (recovery) and aesthetic appeal due to clarity.
Materials Selected and Why
Surlyn® is used in place of PVC decking material. Surlyn® has greater recovery and doesn't yellow like PVC decking.
