Environmental Benefits
Tedlar® films increase the efficiency of photovoltaic cells, which convert sunlight into electricity, and helps to protect them.
Unlike gel coats, DuPont™ Tedlar® films can be applied to fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) panels without ozone-depleting solvents. The application of Tedlar® films in place of paint eliminates much of the solvent commonly associated with high-performance paints.
Because Tedlar® films preserve the appearance and longevity of substrates, they reduce waste and the consumption of energy and raw materials. The low-maintenance surface reduces the use of environmentally harsh cleaners and paints.
Maximum Design Latitude
Oriented Tedlar® films are available in more than 50 standard opaque, translucent, and transparent films, offering a wide array of attractive standard and custom colors and finishes. The product line is continuously growing.
Unoriented Tedlar® SP films are an extension of the oriented film, offering outstanding durability, cleanability, and weather resistance, plus high elongation properties for excellent conformability to almost any shape or substrate. They can be easily embossed and will maintain high pattern definition. Tedlar® SP films are available in clear, white, black and custom colors. They offer gloss options and small-lot capability--even for custom colors.
With thicknesses ranging from 12.5 micrometers (0.5 mil) to 50 micrometers (2 mil) or higher, Tedlar® films allow a high degree of design flexibility with respect to surface texture and formability. They can be manufactured with a range of special physical properties tailored to your processing and performance requirements.
The unique balance of aesthetics and durability makes Tedlar® the quality choice of architects, designers, and specifiers.
