Baked Beans with Orchard Apples
Servings: 6 sides
Orchard apples are everywhere this time of year. If you can’t pick your own, buy them at farm stands. Even supermarkets like to bring in locally grown varieties. Sweet or tart, the choice is up to you for this recipe.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
In a medium saucepan coated with DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick, sauté the onions over medium heat until tender, about 2 minutes. Add the garlic and cook 1 minute. Stir in the mustard, molasses, and maple syrup. Remove from the heat and stir in the beans, chopped apples, ginger, and chopped sage.
Add to an 8-inch square baking pan coated with DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick. Bake in the oven for one hour or until the beans are thick and bubbly. Stir occasionally. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with sliced apples and a sprig of sage.
