Teflon® PFA Resin and Film

Resin

Teflon® PFA is a perfluoroalkoxy copolymer resin available in pellet or powder. Teflon® PFA combines the processing ease of conventional thermoplastic resins with the excellent properties of Teflon® polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).

Products manufactured from Teflon® PFA can offer continuous service temperatures up to 260°C (500°F). What's more, Teflon® PFA provides superior creep resistance at high temperatures, excellent low-temperature toughness, and exceptional flame resistance.

Teflon® PFA fluoroplastic resins are processed by conventional melt-extrusion techniques and by injection, compression, rotational, transfer, and blow-molding processes. The high melt strength and heat stability of these resins permit the use of relatively large die openings and high-temperature draw-down techniques, which increase processing rates. Reciprocating screw injection molding machines are recommended. Corrosion-resistant metals should be used in contact with the molten resin. Long extruder barrels, relative to diameter, are used to provide residence time for heating the resin to 316° to 427°C (600° to 800°F).

Applications
340 A general-purpose fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 14. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 340 include extruded tubing and other profiles for hose, wire and cable insulation, and sleeving; industrial film; and injection or compression molded articles requiring superior electrical, chemical, and thermal properties.
345 A general-purpose fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 5. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 345 include extruded tubing, wire and cable insulation, injection molded parts, and chemically resistant linings for bellows, valves, fittings, pipes, pumps, and other fluid-handling components.
350 A general-purpose fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 2. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 350 include extruded tubing for use in handling aggressive fluids at high pressures; chemical linings for pipes used in the chemical processing industry; film for high flex service; and traditional extruded, injection-molded, or blow-molded articles requiring the unique performance of Teflon®.
TE9724 A general-purpose fluoroplastic resin available as loosely compacted fluff, with a typical melt flow rate of 12.0. DuPont™ Teflon® PFA TE9724 is an ideal resin for applications involving compounding and compression molding, as well as extruded tubing and other profiles for hose, electrical insulators, and sleeving; industrial film and products made from film; and injection or compression molded articles requiring superior electrical, chemical, and thermal properties.  Teflon® PFA TE9724 offers a slightly higher melt flow rate than Teflon® PFA TE9725, providing greater processing ease.
TE9725 A general-purpose fluoroplastic resin available as loosely compacted fluff, with a typical melt flow rate of 1.7. DuPont™ Teflon® PFA TE9725 is an ideal resin for applications involving compounding and compression molding, as well as extruded tubing and other profiles for hose, electrical insulators, and sleeving; industrial film and products made from film; and injection or blow-molded articles requiring superior electrical, chemical, and thermal properties.  Teflon® PFA TE9725 offers a slightly lower melt flow rate than Teflon® PFA TE9724, ultimately providing a higher degree of stress-crack resistance.

Ultrahigh Purity
 

Applications
416HP  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 42. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 416HP include high performance thin-wall wire coatings; intricate injection molded parts for production of chemicals where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed; semiconductor components and electronic parts; and fluid handling systems for high performance chemical filters. Teflon® PFA 416HP resin is ideally suited for applications requiring a high processing speed and very low viscosity.
440HPA  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 16. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 440HPA include fluid handling components for critical, high-purity processes like semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology, as well as applications where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed.
440HPB  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 14. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 440HPB include fluid handling components for critical, high-purity processes like semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology, as well as applications where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed. 
445HP  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 5. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 445HP include tubing, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, semiconductor components, and fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed.
450HP  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 2. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 450HP include tubing, chemical linings for pipes, valves, and fittings used in the chemical processing industries, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, semiconductor components, and fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed.  Teflon® PFA 450HP is preferred in applications where extended service is required in hostile environments involving chemical, thermal, and mechanical stress.
450HP LM  A specialty grade of high purity fluoroplastic resin with extractable iron content below 5µg/m2. Applications for DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 450HP LM include tubing, valves, and fittings used in semiconductor manufacturing, as well as unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals and fluid handling components in high-performance chemical delivery systems where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed. With extractable iron content below 5µg/m2, Teflon® PFA 450HP LM meets the proposed SEMI Fxx- specification1 for PFA materials used in chemical distribution systems, and is preferred in applications where low iron content is required for process performance.
451HP  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 2. Teflon® PFA 451HP is preferred in applications where purity in the parts-per-billion range, surface smoothness, and the highest levels of chemical permeation resistance are required; including tubing, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, semiconductor components, and fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems where stress-crack resistance is critical.
940HP Plus A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 16, and excellent stress-crack resistance. With a typical MIT folding endurance of 300,000* cycles, DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 940HP Plus is designed to withstand repeated flexing and aggressive chemical stress-cracking agents.  Applications for Teflon® PFA 940HP Plus include fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems, as well as tubing, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, and semiconductor components where purity in the parts-per-billion range is critical.
945HP Plus A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 7, and excellent stress-crack resistance. With a typical MIT folding endurance of 800,000* cycles, DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 945HP Plus is designed to withstand repeated flexing and aggressive chemical stress-cracking agents.  Applications for Teflon® PFA 945HP Plus include fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems, as well as tubing, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, and semiconductor components where purity in the parts-per-billion range is critical. 
950HP Plus A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 7, and excellent stress-crack resistance. With an exceptional typical MIT folding endurance of 2,500,000* cycles, DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 950HP Plus is designed to withstand repeated flexing and the most aggressive chemical stress-cracking agents.  Applications for Teflon® PFA 950HP Plus include fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems, as well as tubing, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, and semiconductor components where purity in the parts-per-billion range is critical. 
951HP Plus  A high-purity fluoroplastic resin with a typical melt flow rate of 2, and excellent stress-crack resistance. With permeation resistance that is up to 60% greater than standard PFA, DuPont™ Teflon® PFA 951HP Plus is designed for applications where reduced chemical permeation, resistance to stress-cracking, and surface smoothness are critical to reducing contamination and protecting process yields. Applications for Teflon® PFA 951HP Plus include fluid handling components for high-performance chemical delivery systems, as well as tubing, unsupported pipe linings for the production of ultra-pure chemicals, and semiconductor components where purity in the parts-per-billion range is needed.

Dispersion composed of approximately 60%  PFA resin dispersed in water. Contains a nonionic wetting agent and stabilizer. General-purpose product used in a variety of coating applications, such as heat sealable topcoats 
PFA C980 A special purpose fluoroplastic resin with anti-static levels of electrical conductivity. Anti-static linings of components used in the chemical processing industries; industrial film; articles requiring superior electrical, chemical and thermal properties. 

 

Film

DuPont™ Teflon® PFA film is a transparent, thermoplastic film that can be heat sealed, thermoformed, vacuum formed, heat bonded, welded, metallized, laminated (combined with dozens of other materials), and used as an excellent hot-melt adhesive.

This wide variety of fabrication possibilities combines with important properties [.pdf] to offer a unique balance of capabilities not available in any other plastic film.

New Permeation Resistant Grade Teflon® PFA HP Plus Fluoropolymer Resin
DuPont Fluoroproducts announced the introduction of a new grade of permeation resistant DuPont™ Teflon® PFA HP Plus. The new resin, Teflon® PFA 951HP Plus, is designed for molding and extrusion for fluid handling components and tubing.
