We are part of DuPont Titanium Technologies  (DTT).
DTT is a $2 MM business offering a wide variety of products including Titanium Dioxide and Titanium Minerals. It has a truly global presence with 7 manufacturing facilities and 8 technical centers around the world serving markets like paper, coatings, and plastics.
DTT has been exploring new areas of growth based at its core capabilities around the Titanium molecule. As a result of this, the company has introduced new high value-added offerings to the market in the last couple of years including Titanium Tetrachloride, Titanium Oxichloride, Brand Licensing for Paints, and Titanium Metal.
DuPont has a long-term strategy to participate in the Titanium metal industry based on 2 product platforms composed of Generation 1 and Generation 2 Titanium Metal Powder. The 1st Generation metal process, developed with Honeywell Electronic Materials, makes titanium metal powder which can then be pressed into desired shapes. It will allow manufacturers to make parts faster, with less machining and significantly less scrap, while yielding virtually the same strength and weight characteristics as machined Titanium. The 2nd Generation process led by DuPont and Tucson-based MER Corporation constitutes a DARPA funded initiative to develop an inexpensive and energy-efficient new process for making titanium metal powder. This powder can be used to create strong, lightweight items ranging from armor plating to components for the aerospace, transportation and chemical processing industries. Generation 1 process is fully functional today while Generation 2 is on the R&D state with pilot plant operation scheduled in 2008.
