Located in an industrial area about 20 miles from Uberaba, Brazil, DuPont has a grinding and packing unit that produces TiO 2. Our site has about 40 employees who have developed a close relationship with the community through the following programs:
- Plant open houses where we meet about 200 visitors a year from the community
- DCSF awards, which have financially supported 15 community projects in the last 10 years
- Donations of wood pallets and used computers to the community
Since our start-up in 1992, we have had 0 total recordable cases of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) incidents; 0 process incidents; and 0 security incidents. Our site management's strong commitment to safety includes systems to manage SHE-related issues. These systems are the groundwork for our site policies, procedures, practices, and open communication. In addition, we promote site safety through our:
- Central Safety Committee
- Employee participation in Safety Training Observation Program™(STOP), Safer Acts Index audits, process safety management, and Responsible Care®
- Safety meetings
- Regional and community SHE activities
