DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® is a breathable sheet product engineered to provide excellent performance as an air barrier and secondary weather resistive membrane.
Wrapped under the building's exterior facade, DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® protects against air and water infiltration while allowing harmful moisture vapor to escape the wall cavity. Tyvek® CommercialWrap® also provides added strength and durability to withstand the rigors of commercial applications. Tests show that DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® is 2 1/2 - 3 times better at water holdout versus 10- and 60-minute building paper and is more than 5-times better than #15 felt at resisting water. The unique non-woven fiber structure of DuPont™ Tyvek® allows moisture vapor to diffuse through the sheet, avoiding harmful mold and mildew buildup.
DuPont™ Tyvek® CommercialWrap® helps reduce air leakage and protects the installed R-value of the insulation. Regardless of the insulation thickness, sheathing type, or even air tight drywall, tests have shown significant loss of a wall's R-value without the use of DuPont™ Tyvek®. Summer and winter, outside air stays out and inside air stays in. The result is effective installed R-value and year-round energy savings.
