Increase r value with DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ takes the optimum balance of properties for superior performance of DuPont™ Tyvek® weather barriers and adds a low-e metallized surface. This helps to reduce radiant heat flow by reflecting infrared radiation away from the building, thereby increasing the effective r value of the wall system if installed per manufacturer’s guidelines. Not only will this make your building cooler, it will also keep it warmer by helping reduce radiant heat flow through the wall, sustaining a warmer interior and helping to reduce heating bills.

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ offers superior water hold-out, high vapor permeability, and helps you create more sustainable commercial structures that continue to operate efficiently. Using DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ may help to contribute toward U.S Green Building Council LEED® points in the categories of Energy & Atmosphere, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Design.

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ is most effective when used with other products in the DuPont Weatherization Systems, such as DuPont™ Tyvek® Metallized Tape, which when used to tape the seams after wrapping, also helps preserve insulation r value and reduce heating and cooling costs of a low rise commercial building.

How It Works:

Breathable Protection

The low-e metallized surface of DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ helps create an effective R-2 thermal resistance in the wall cavity when facing a minimum 3/4” air space.

 

Hot Climate

The low-e metallized surface reflects radiant heat out of the wall, keeping a cool interior and helps to reduce air conditioning needs.

 

Cold Climate

The low-e surface helps reduce radiant heat flow through the wall helping to keep a warm interior and reducing heating bills.

The performance of DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ meets the 2006 International Building Code (Section 1403.2. Weather Protection) that requires exterior walls to provide the building with a weather resistant exterior wall envelope.

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ also meets the air barrier requirements of ICC-ES AC-38, the ASTM E1677 Standard Specification for a Type I air barrier and passes the ASTM E2357 standard test method for determining air leakage of air barrier assemblies. DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ meets the National Building Code of Canada 2005, Massachusetts Commercial Energy Code, Wisconsin Energy Code, and the ASHRAE 90.1 Model Energy Code.
