DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™

DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ uses the optimum balance of properties for superior performance of DuPont™ Tyvek® weather barrier and adds a low-emissivity (low-e) metallized surface.  This helps to reduce radiant heat flow through walls which in turn helps to minimize both summer heat gain and winter heat loss. DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ helps improve the energy efficiency of the house.

How It Works:
 

 
Breathable Protection - The low-e metallized surface of DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ helps create an R-2 thermal resistance in the wall cavity when facing a minimum 3/4” air space.

 

 
Hot Climate - The low-e metallized surface reflects radiant heat away from the wall, keeping a cool interior and helps to reduce air conditioning needs.

 

 
Cold Climate - The low-e surface helps reduce radiant heat flow through the wall helping to keep a warm interior and reducing heating bills.

 

Builders who use DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap® can earn up to 17 points toward certification to the National Green Building Standard™.

When installed as an air infiltration barrier, DuPont™ Tyvek® may help contribute towards U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points and may help the home owner to qualify for an energy tax credit.

The performance of DuPont™ Tyvek® ThermaWrap™ exceeds the 2006 International Building Code (section 1403.2) and the 2006 International Residential code (Section R703.1) as a water-resistive barrier and meets the air barrier requirements of ICC-ES AC-38 and the ASTM E1677 Standard Specification for a Type I air barrier.
