DuPont™ Vespel® Parts and Shapes Expands Production in Asia Pacific

Tuas, Singapore

DuPont Performance Polymers has almost doubled its production capacity for DuPont™ Vespel® CR-6000 series parts and shapes with the addition of manufacturing capability at its site in Tuas, Singapore. CR-6100 parts and shapes have experienced growth in critical applications in refineries due to its improved chemical resistance, temperature performance and wear properties.

Design engineers turn to Vespel® CR parts and shapes when faced with a tough environment where metal or lesser-performing plastics are insufficient. The CR-6000 family of products can provide high-creep resistance for seals and easy machinability for tight-tolerance parts. Recently, Vespel® CR-6100 was specified as a replacement for metal components in case wear rings. They provided increased wear resistance, tighter clearance and improved pump efficiency. In addition, CR-6100 parts were recognized under the ISO 13709 International Standard and by the American Petroleum Institute’s API 610 standard for stationery pump parts.

“Our customers have found that Vespel® CR parts and shapes provide cost and performance advantages, like longer mean time between repair, improved chemical resistance or excellent design characteristics,” said Mark Schmeckpeper, global product manager — DuPont™ Kalrez® & Vespel®. “With the addition of CR-6000 series products to the Tuas portfolio, we are prepared to meet the global demand of these high value-in-use products.”

Tuas, Singapore, opened in July 2008 as an additional manufacturing site for Vespel® S parts and shapes. Other production facilities for Vespel® parts and shapes are located in Utsunomiya, Japan; Mechelen, Belgium; Newark, Delaware, and Valley View, Ohio.

For more than 40 years, Vespel® parts and shapes have delivered wear and friction solutions for demanding applications. To learn more visit http://vespel.dupont.com.
