Two United States facilities that manufacture DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer parts and DuPont™ Vespel® parts and shapes have earned Nadcap accreditation. Nadcap is an international benchmark of excellence in meeting the stringent technical requirements that the aerospace industry values and relies on for specialized processes used to manufacture and test their parts.
“Getting Nadcap accreditation underscores the strength of our quality systems and commitment to the aerospace industry,” said Mark Forkapa, global aerospace marketing manager for the DuPont™ Kalrez® and Vespel® business. “We are not only investing in the science to deliver friction, wear and sealing material solutions; we are also investing in the special processes employed by our global network of manufacturing sites to deliver parts our customers can trust meet their requirements,” he added.
Following an in-depth and extremely rigorous audit of manufacturing and quality control systems, the Performance Review Institute (PRI) awarded accreditation to a DuPont plant in Newark, Del., that makes Kalrez® parts, and to a facility in Valley View, Ohio, which manufactures Vespel® parts and shapes. Both facilities had previously been certified for compliance with the aerospace industry’s AS 9100 quality systems standard.
Nadcap accreditation of the Valley View facility marks a global first. “Our Valley View site is the first to receive Nadcap accreditation for compression molding processes,” Forkapa said. PRI also accredited the Valley View plant’s nonmetallic material testing procedures. The Newark plant’s Nadcap accreditation for elastomer seals covers compounding operations and the manufacture of Kalrez® compression seals, molded parts and O-rings.

Nadcap is an industry-managed, consensus approach to OEM oversight of special process and product suppliers. Nadcap is an integral part of the supplier management system of most of the world’s aerospace manufacturers. The Nadcap accreditation program is administered by the Performance Review Institute, a not-for-profit entity based in Warrendale, Pa. Both Nadcap and PRI were set up by SAE International Inc.
