Benefits Gained
The spacer reduces noise in the roller fuel pump. Unlubricated bushings and thrustwashers contribute to increased life time and reliability over a wide range of temperatures from -40°C up to +150°C.
Materials Selected and Why
The spacer is made from Vespel® because of its excellent dimensional stability and fuel compatibility. Vespel® was chosen to give parts high impact strength combined with low wear and friction. Lowest wear rates and coefficient of friction are achievable with Vespel® containing 15% graphite and 10% Teflon®. Bushings and thrust washers operate in an unlubricated environment.
