Materials Selected and Why
Vespel® polyimide parts, coated with Teflon® fluorocarbon resin for added lubricity. In this Vespel® was chosen for its excellent dimensional stability, high impact strength, low wear and good coefficient of friction. It dampens vibrations and needs no lubricant. This 15% graphite-filled polyimide bushing replaced standard roller bearings.
